Company History

Peter Van Kessel began his career in 1956, hired by John and Edith Parry, as a stockroom attendant. He quickly worked his way through the ranks of parts delivery and counterperson, and earned the position of Parts Manager in 1962.

He realized an opportunity offered by the Parrys and began buying shares of the company in 1967. He eventually bought out the remaining shares of the company in 1977, after the passing of his partner and mentor Edith Parry.

After many years of successfully growing this business, Peter developed a succession plan with his children to facilitate his retirement.  Parry Automotive is now owned and led by his son Stephen Van Kessel and daughter Susan Peacock, who have carried on in the tradition of their predecessors and continue to grow this great company .

Over the years we have supported the needs of our community in many different ways:

Support for our hospital, sports teams, hospice, women’s shelter, food bank, service clubs, YMCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters and many other charitable organizations such as ALS Canada, Cancer Society, etc.

We ensure we invest the time and effort to represent Parry Automotive in both our Community and our Industry by serving on boards and committees we believe in.

Parry Automotive offers a variety of programs to its clients, including the ACDelco ACE (Automotive Care Experts) and PSC (Professional Service Centre) Programs.  These are in-depth technical and business training and marketing programs available to 'automotive service providers', designed to increase technical ability, business management skills, sales and customer awareness. Benefits include on-line and on-hand technical and business training, and a wide variety of marketing and customer retention tools.  These particular programs are essential tools to increase sales and market share, founded upon years of experience and numerous success stories.
