Peter Van Kessel began his career in 1956, hired by John and Edith Parry, as a stockroom attendant. He quickly worked his way through the ranks of parts delivery and counterperson, and earned the position of Parts Manager in 1962.
He realized an opportunity offered by the Parrys and began buying shares of the company in 1967. He eventually bought out the remaining shares of the company in 1977, after the passing of his partner and mentor Edith Parry.
Through insight, hard work and dedication, Peter and his wife Sharon developed and grew Parry Automotive to become the successful and well respected operation it is today.
During his years spent in this industry, he has been involved with many projects and initiatives that have helped develop the success of the Canadian Automotive Aftermarket. His involvement as both Chairman and Director of Autosense Director of Automotive Industries Association (AIA) and Director of Automotive Machinist and Power Association (AMPA) are only to name a few.
Today Parry Automotive is led by his son Stephen Van Kessel and daughter Susan Peacock. While Peter enjoys most of his time spent with his family, and riding on his Harley Davidson, there is still a good chance that you will find him helping the Team of Parry Automotive Professionals work hard to continue with the success that he created.
We are actively involved in the community and are proud sponsors of both the Soldiers Memorial Hospital Building Fund and the Kiwanis Club of Orillia.
